HATCHET VOCABULARY SHEETS
The Skeleton Tree by Iain Lawrence
List of items you would want to have with you in order survive being lost in the wild.
The TD Canadian Children's Literature Awards are coming up later this month and as in previous years North by Northwest is holding a contest where some lucky students will win books for themselves and their school libraries.
B.C. author Iain Lawrence is nominated this year for his novel "The Skeleton Tree". It's the exciting story of two children shipwrecked on the coast of Alaska and how they manage to survive.
To help celebrate this book our contest is asking B.C. students from age 8 to 14 to send us a list of what you would want with you if you were lost in the wilderness. Use your imagination and tell us a bit about why you made your choices. The challenge here is that there is no wifi or internet connection so no cell phones, digital devices or even radio.
Email your list to firstname.lastname@example.org and put Shipwrecked in the subject line. Contest details will be posted on the Nxnw facebook page. The winners will be drawn November 26th.
